For student-athletes, so much of high school is documented through their sport. Team photos & game-day images. We’ve got media days and action shots. But senior portraits are different.
These sessions are an opportunity to show the person behind the jersey.
Your senior portrait session should still celebrate the sport that has shaped your high school experience, but it does not have to feel like another media day. Instead, we can create images that show your personality, personal style, interests, and the person you are becoming beyond your athletics.
Senior Portraits That Go Beyond the Uniform
Your sport is an important part of your story. It just isn't the entire story.
For an athlete, I love incorporating a mix of looks and locations throughout a senior session. That might mean starting in a suit or elevated outfit, moving into a more casual look, and then finishing with your uniform and equipment.
You can also incorporate:
Your jersey, helmet, ball, bat, or other equipment
School colors or meaningful locations
Hobbies and interests outside of sports
Personal style and favorite outfits
Props connected to your future plans
The goal is to create variety without losing the connection to what makes you, you.
Your Senior Session Should Feel Like You
The best senior portraits aren't just about looking polished. They should feel personal.
Maybe you're heading to college to continue playing your sport. Maybe you're pursuing something completely different. Or maybe you're the athlete, the musician, the future entrepreneur, or all three.
Your session should leave room for those different sides of you.
And if you aren't sure how to pose? That's okay. You don't need to show up knowing what to do in front of the camera. Direction, posing, and creative ideas are part of the experience I create as an Atlanta photographer.
