When to Book a Photographer for Travel Softball Tournaments (Before It’s Too Late) | Atlanta Sports Photographer

When looking to decide when to book a photographer for travel softball tournaments, you need to think a little bit ahead. Especially mid-season.

It’s no secret that once your season is underway, it goes fast.

It’s not impossible to get photography coverage, but it definitely gets trickier to secure the time & dates you need. I am usually working at multiple games per day during busy season. And I don’t want you to get caught without photos, after your athletes have worked so hard to show up prepared & ready.

If you can plan ahead a bit, you’re going to set your team up for really bold, stand-out photos that will not just appeal to recruiters but also document the sports careers of your dedicated athletes.

But, by the time most teams start looking for a photographer, the best weekends are already gone. Don’t let that be your team!

When to Book a Photographer for Travel Softball Tournaments

The weekends tend to book the fastest, so the closest I would cut it is one month in advance. If photography is a priority for your team, then reach out (here) as soon as the season schedule is finalized and get a prime spot on my calendar.

Tournaments tend to overlap between sports, and those weekend dates fill up super fast. I work with all different sports teams, and my calendar is first come, first serve. Which means it’s really helpful to think ahead when you’re looking at game day coverage.

Signs You’re Booking Too Late Each Season:

  • You’re searching the week of the tournament

  • Your preferred photographer is already booked

  • You only have one game time confirmed for photography

  • You haven’t communicated with the team yet

  • You’re trying to squeeze photography into an already packed tournament day

Your athletes deserve incredible photos of their tournament. We can definitely make that happen with enough notice to get you a prime spot on the calendar!

Why Professional Photography Matters for Your Athletes?

Professional sports photography does more than capture action shots. High-quality images help programs build a stronger online presence, celebrate athletes, and create content for recruiting, social media, and team marketing.

In this digital era, there are almost endless uses for high-end photography of your sport.

Parents also appreciate having professional images they can actually enjoy instead of blurry sideline photos. These photos aren’t just seen by recruiters or potential new athletes… they’re hung up on the wall proudly by parents. Sent to grandparents and relatives.

It’s a profoundly important way to celebrate your team and honor their dedication & hard work.

If your team already has tournament dates confirmed, now is the time to reserve photography coverage.

The earlier you book, the more flexibility and coverage options you’ll have throughout the season.
