Here’s Why You Should Book Your Sports Photography Now | Atlanta Photographer
I don’t need to tell you that the start of a new athletic season is busy as can be. Schedules are filling up!! Practices are underway! And games and meets are being planned. There is already plenty on your plate. Here is why it’s important to book your sports photography now.
Photography services may not feel urgent today, but waiting until the middle of the season can make it much harder to get the coverage you need.
As an Atlanta photographer who works with dozens of teams, athletes, coaches and parents each year… I promise I want to set you up for success and make sure you have the bold visuals you need for the season.
Your Season Schedule Fills Up Fast
Sports schedules tend to follow a pattern. Games, meets, tournaments, and showcases often happen on the same days and weekends throughout the season for a variety of sports & teams.
Once those dates are booked, they are no longer available for another team or athlete.
That is why I recommend scheduling your photography early.
My calendar can fill quickly, especially with returning clients who book months in advance to secure their preferred dates.
For coaches and athletic directors, booking early also means one less detail to worry about once the season gets hectic. Do your future self a favor and book your game day coverage or media day early.
Also, Your Media Day Should Be Thoughtfully Executed, Not Rushed Through
If you’re needing fresh, bold portraits this year, you’ll want to book a Media Day. These photo sessions are more than getting a headshot for a roster. It is an opportunity to create a library of professional images your team can use throughout the entire season.
Think about everything your program may need:
Social media content
Recruiting materials
Team websites
Banners and flyers
Player announcements
Game-day graphics
End-of-season content
These images are much more useful when you have them ready before you need them. Media Day also requires coordination between athletes, coaches, schools, schedules, uniforms, and locations. The more time you have to plan, the better the final images will be.
This is why I recommend taking the time to book your sports photography at the very beginning of your season.
If you already have your season schedule, now is the time to reach out.
Whether you need game-day coverage, individual athlete photos, or a full Media Day, getting photography on the calendar early gives you more options and keeps you from scrambling for coverage later.
I’m based in Atlanta and work with athletes, parents, schools, and organizations to create professional images that capture the energy of the sport while giving your program photos you can actually use.
